Preppy Style Mood Board

A question that has come up across my friends since I launched this blog is: What exactly does Preppy mean? It definitely isn't a term that is used commonly in Australia, and when it is used we tend to think of ivy league college students in the 1950's and Blair Waldorf. It isn't the most popular style choice in Australians, at least not in the same capacity you would find in the East and the South coasts of the United States. This may be due to the fact that Australians are more relaxed and laid back (yes, the rumours are true!), and this is reflected in our style.

The Aussie Prep does not take ownership for any of the images used

This means, that if I am starting a blog in the direction of sharing how to interpret the preppy style in Australia -and any other country where the style isn't as common- I should start with providing a visual of a general overview of the 'Prep Life'. Over the year, I have gained most of my preppy style inspiration from Pinterest, no surprises there. The images from this mood board have all come from my various boards, Aussie PrepPreppy is a Lifestyle, and Summertime Prep.

When it comes to preppy, think of button down shirts under jumpers, but also monograms, vests (both puffy and fleece), and shoes that seem classic but a little bit out there at the same time. The preppy style is all about those classic, timeless pieces that can never go out of style.

For more inspiration, have a scroll through my Pinterest. It is seriously the best place ever.

What do you think of when you hear the word 'preppy'?

Grace.
