100th Post + An Exciting Announcement

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

As we get closer to Christmas, I can't help but reflect on the past year and anticipate the one to come. Which is only fitting as this is my 100th blog post here on The Aussie Prep! Can we believe that this is my 100th blog post?! Considering I have been blogging on The Aussie Prep for almost two years, 100 posts isn't all that much. However, I am proud of how, even though I have taken a couple of "breaks" over the past two years, I have still stuck this out. At the moment, this blog is probably my favourite things in my life. I love it so much! It is so much fun to come up with outfits and post ideas, write, and share my love of fashion with others. I am very much looking forward to another year of blogging in 2018.

To celebrate my 100th post, I wanted to share with you all some news I have been hiding from you for the past couple of months...

I am excited to announce that next year I am going back to school!

Yep, a year after graduating from my first degree, I am going to be returning to school to study a Bachelor of Design, specialising in Creative Direction and Styling, at the Whitehouse Institute of Design starting at the end of January, 2018.

Yesterday was actually my final day at my job as I take the next month off to fully relax and recharge before heading straight off into my new degree. This year has been a bit of a wild ride, so I am very much looking forward to this break! In my last post I mentioned how there were more lows this past year than I expected there to be. I'm not going to go into too much detail, although maybe later down the track I will share the whole story, but this year has been tough and I was feeling really down for multiple periods throughout the year. When you start sobbing in the middle of a cinema while watching Wonder Woman, because here is a strong woman, and why can't you be strong like her, you know you need to make a change in your life.

At first, I didn't know what my next move would be. I did consider saving up and planning a big overseas trip, but then I went to Melbourne Fashion Week and it changed the course of my life. Being amongst fashion week made me realise that I love fashion (possibly definitely more than art), and I won't ever be satisfied if I never try pursuing it for my career. So, I started doing some research as to what is available to study fashion and brainstorming which area I would like to go into.

I might share the whole process of me applying to fashion school (its was a whirlwind of a ride!) if you would like to hear it, but I don't want to make this post too much longer.

I just want to say that I am incredibly excited (and a little nervous, and a little scared), about this new chapter in my life. The Whitehouse is actually my original "Dream School" since I was in primary school, so I am still struggling to believe this is real. I can't recall how I came to creative direction and styling, but I do know that it feels right. I have already told a few people about my news, and I think my favourite reaction was a friend who said something along the lines of "I'm glad you finally realised that is what you're supposed to be doing."

You know what? I'm glad I finally realised this is what I'm meant to be doing too.

Happy holidays from Australia,
Grace.
