Brisbane Road Trip 2016

Welcome back, friends!
What a week it has been! If you haven't already heard, this week I was on a road trip with one of my best friends, Ebony, to help her drive her car up to Queensland as she is moving there for Uni. I cannot believe that yesterday I said goodbye to my best friend from High School for the last time, in who knows how many months, because she is moving literally to the other side of the country (North-South, not East-West terms). Who would have thought that this would be happening. Nonetheless, it was a memorable trip. A perfect end to Summer.

The Preppy Essentials | Autumn

G'day friends! If you follow The Aussie Prep on Instagram (if you're not, the link is here. Go follow now!), you would know that I am currently on a cross-country road trip with my best friend Ebony. I haven't brought my laptop with me, so I have written this post ahead in preparation. My twin sister, Claire (oh yeah, have I told you guys about her yet?), has been super awesome and is posting this for me, so shout out to her! Thanks Claire. Now, on to the post.

Can you believe that it is Autumn next week?! Where has Summer gone? I mean, living in Melbourne we never really get a full, satisfying Summer anyway, so I shouldn't be all that surprised. Autumn is definitely my favourite month. To me, there is nothing better than Melbourne in Autumn. It is also the season where the Preppy style can really shine. I am getting excited right now just thinking about the vests, the boots and the scarves I now get to wear!

This is Claire here, signing off for Grace! She wrote this post before she left and I am here making sure she is still sticking to her posting schedule! She doesn't usually have a sign off, but she wanted me to write one anyway.

I am definitely going to steal borrow a few of these items!

What are some of your autumn essentials?

Packing for a Summer Road-Trip

Happy Friday, friends! Today I am packing and getting everything organised for a couple of mini-trips I will be going on this upcoming week. Firstly, this weekend I will be visiting my parents and staying with them, before I leave from my hometown to go on a road-trip with my best friend to Brisbane as she is moving to Queensland. I still cannot believe that my best friend is moving to the other side of the country! I mean sure, we are used to having a long-distance friendship for the past two years now, but moving to a different state is a lot worse than being no more than three hours apart.

Gingham and Loafers

SURPRISE! It's a Tuesday and I have another fashion post for you all. This was so unexpected, right? Probably not, but we can just humour me for a second. Today I have been enjoying one of the final chilled-out days before Uni starts for my final year of undergrad at my best friend, Miriam's, house. The weather has been a bit gloomy today, so we have been baking, and we watched Bridget Jones's Diary. Who doesn't love watching Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, in what is possibly the most British -and best- fight scene ever, on a cloudy/rainy/cold day? I am actually writing this blog post while wrapped up in Miriam's dressing gown and drinking a cup of tea. I am so ready for the cooler months, y'all.

It's Friday, I'm in Love

That's right guys, I am in love... with this outfit! In case you haven't noticed already, this weekend is Valentine's weekend. Saturday is Galentine's Day (my personal favourite), and Sunday is V-Day. While I am facing another year of being single on Valentine's Day, it was still fun to dress up in a Valentine's Day themed outfit for y'all. If anyone knows me well, they will know that I always love to dress for the occasion. Even if you don't have a date on Valentine's Day, it is still fun to get together with some of your friends who also happen to be free, and do something together. Celebrate platonic love too, guys!

Style Inspiration | Reese Witherspoon

You know those days where you wake up from having a rough night of sleep and then you actually get up and the whole day is ruined because you didn't get a peaceful night sleep? Yeah, that's me today. I kept on waking up last night thinking I slept through my alarm. I got out of bed and started making my breakfast... at 2:30am! Jeez.

However, as I was scrolling through Instagram there was someone that managed to improve my mood, and this the lovely Reese Witherspoon! Reese is definitely one of my favourite style, and let's face it, overall life inspirations. Not only does Reese have a fun, preppy style, she also still loves to embrace the Southern Hospitality she grew up with. From her 'street style' to her pink(?!) wedding dress, Reese always has fun with fashion while keeping it classic. She encompasses all of this into her own fashion label, Draper James, and boy oh boy, is it as perfect as she is! Who doesn't love someone who is so comfortable with their style that they have their own fashion label and frequently wears clothes from that label? Reese is always going to be a winner in my books.

Work This Out

Excuse the title for this one. I watched all three High School Musical movies last weekend and I'm still in the HSM zone. But can you blame me? (The answer is no)

Anyway, today I went to the GYM. Like, an actual gym with all of the machine thingy-ma-jigs and everything, on my own free will no less! I have always wanted to do something a little bit extra for my exercise (my only exercise is walking to and from public transport), but I never got around to actually signing up for any classes. One of my friends over the past few months has been taking advantage of the gym at our Uni and the various group fitness classes they do there. What better opportunity to finally get into fitness than doing it with a friend who already has a small routine organised? So, today I asked if I could join her for little gym session.

My Wish List

Everyone has a wish list, right? Whether it be for wardrobe items, books to read or even pets to own, it is impossible not to have a list. I like to think of mine as 'Future Investments', which totally makes it sound perfectly reasonable right? These items are things that I would like to aquire over time into my wardrobe. As the preppy wardrobe consists of the usual staples, you can be 'thrifty' in the sense that you can invest in a quality piece, and not have to buy another one for a while. Which saves money because you're not constantly needing to purchase replacements every few months.

This list isn't long - there are only 5 items on it - but they are all fairly big items (price-wise and brand-wise), so it feels like a large list to me. Obviously I am not going to go out and purchase all of these at once, but it is nice to have this visual as something I can work on over time once I feel deserving of a little treat to myself.
